What is an Outpatient Treatment Program?

Recovery at an outpatient drug rehab or outpatient alcohol rehab is different from inpatient treatment because patients do not live on-site at a treatment center. Instead, with an outpatient program, patients meet at a treatment facility at scheduled times during the week for therapy and return home after.

Our outpatient program at Vertava Health includes one individual therapy session a week with a licensed therapist as well as one group therapy session a week with people struggling with similar conditions when appropriate. This level of care is one step lower than our intensive outpatient program that involves more therapy sessions a week and a more significant time commitment. There are also other add-on services available when needed.

Some of our outpatient services include:

Outpatient Mental Health Treatment

Many people who struggle with their mental health never get help, but our outpatient therapy programs are used to support people with a variety of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Our mental health outpatient programs focus on evidence-based programming, including person-centered therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and more. Through these various treatment modalities and under the direction of licensed therapists and counselors, patients will work on not only learning to manage their symptoms but also on improving their overall well-being. When appropriate, patients may also meet in support groups with other patients who are struggling with similar conditions. These group sessions create a community of support and connection.

Outpatient Addiction Treatment

Outpatient rehab can act as an alternative to residential services as well as a step-down treatment program in the recovery journey. While rehab centers provide a controlled environment for addiction recovery, some patients who already have a supportive home environment may not need this level of intense care. Instead, addiction outpatient programs allow them to stay connected to loved ones and their everyday lives while still receiving professional care.

During an outpatient addiction treatment program, people in recovery work with therapists, counselors, and case managers as they participate in various proven treatment modalities. These treatment techniques will help them better understand the root causes of their addiction as well as how to cope with triggers. Group therapy sessions will also help patients grow their support system in the recovery community and remind them that they are not alone.
