Turning Point to Host Southaven Screening of Generation Found Film

Portion of Proceeds will Benefit Healing Hearts Child Advocacy Center

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (October 18, 2016) – From the creators of the groundbreaking film THE ANONYMOUS PEOPLE, comes GENERATION FOUND – a powerful story about one community, coming together to ignite a youth addiction recovery revolution.

“This story is not only a deeply personal story but one with real world utility for communities struggling with youth addiction worldwide,” says Turning Point Southeast Regional Market Director Karen Morgan. “It’s time to discuss the elephant in the community and that is that our kids are dying every day from substance abuse.”

DeSoto County, Mississippi leads the state in heroin-related overdose deaths with over 20 in this year alone. It is up to Turning Point, community leaders, neighbors and friends to join together and fight this growing epidemic.

A portion of the proceeds from the screening will benefit Healing Hearts Child Advocacy Center, an organization that works to raise awareness of and combat childhood abuse in DeSoto County, which often leads to unresolved trauma that spirals into addiction. On average, 1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys are sexually abused before they reach age 18.

Join Turning Point for a special one-time screening of Generation Found Thursday, October 20 at Desoto Cinema 16. Reserve your tickets here: https://gathr.us/screening/17809

From the creators of the groundbreaking film, THE ANONYMOUS PEOPLE, comes GENERATION FOUND, a powerful story about one community coming together to ignite a youth addiction recovery revolution in their hometown. Devastated by an epidemic of addiction, Houston faced the reality of burying and locking up its young people at an alarming rate. And so in one of the largest cities in America, visionary counselors, law school dropouts, aspiring rock musicians, retired football players, oil industry executives, and church leaders came together to build the world’s largest peer-driven youth and family recovery community. Independently filmed over the course of two years, GENERATION FOUND takes an unprecedented and intimate look at how a system of treatment centers, sober high schools, alternative peer groups, and collegiate recovery programs can exist in concert to intervene early and provide a real and tested long-term alternative to the “War on Drugs.” It is not only a deeply personal story, but one with real-world utility for communities struggling with addiction worldwide.
