Chief Executive Officer

An accomplished executive and successful entrepreneur, Matt Morgan serves as Chief Executive Officer of Vertava Health, where he leads a team dedicated to a singular purpose: to pioneer care that empowers patients to live out their best future.

Matt joined Vertava Health in 2019, bringing over 20 years as a healthcare executive. From integrated healthcare delivery system leadership to home health, hospice, and other healthcare industry segments, Matt has a distinguished career building leading companies through his passion for learning, technology innovation, and creating cultural differentiation. As an entrepreneur, Matt founded and led the growth and subsequent sale of two private startup companies as well as leading private equity sponsored, middle-market companies poised for high growth.

Matt has a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine and is a Fellow (FACHE) in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Elizabeth George

Chief Administrative Officer 

Elizabeth George joined Vertava Health in 2020, bringing strategic communications leadership and a track record of empowering transformational change through communications that inspire, engage, and activate people around a shared vision.

Prior to joining Vertava, Elizabeth led an award-winning executive and internal communications team at a Fortune 100 health solutions company and consulted with a variety of mid-sized and startup organizations seeking to drive results through effective communications.

Elizabeth is an executive with international experience who has worked at the most senior levels of multi-national companies and is known as a strategic collaborator who brings people together to achieve great things. A previous role took her to London, England, where she developed a talent for starting new functions and building teams and realized a passion for cultural understanding.

She is the author of True South, A Journey to the Heart of Working Despair, which embraces the power of humor to spark dialogue and drive change in the workplace.

Elizabeth graduated from Indiana University and lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with her husband and two daughters.

Awstin Gregg

SVP, Outpatient Division

Awstin Gregg joined Vertava Health in 2021 and serves as the Senior Vice President of Division 2, which also includes the national oversite of the virtual care segment of the organization. He focuses on the amalgamation of key variables that drive innovation, high-quality outcomes, and fosters service lines capable of serving the granular needs of each individual, so that they may live out their best future. 

Awstin began his career as a mental health technician at a psychiatric hospital. In a time frame of seven years, Awstin advanced his career from mental health tech to the CEO of the same hospital, making him one of the youngest CEOs in an international Fortune 500 company.

Awstin has an eclectic background in executive management, which most recently included the simultaneous management of a 32-bed Residential Treatment Center, a 104-bed psychiatric hospital, and a multi-specialty outpatient clinic. He has experience operationalizing De Novo clinics, managing entity integration through mergers, and has a strong track record of successfully navigating state regulations, payor requirements, national accreditations, and CMS guidelines.

Awstin is a multi-licensed clinical social worker by trade but also possesses an MBA, MHSM, and has continued his post-graduate education in business analytics through Harvard University. In 2018, he was voted Social Worker of the Year, in 2019 he was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year, and in 2020 was a finalist in D Magazines Excellence in Healthcare awards.

Awstin currently serves as a part-time adjunct professor at Texas Christian University (TCU) and Texas A&M Commerce (TAMUC). He has delivered public presentations locally, nationally, and on the international stage. Awstin is frequently an expert guest on local media outlets and has been featured on NBC, Fox, CBS, and countless local media outlets.

Awstin is driven by finding meaningful solutions to complex problems utilizing a dynamic team, which ultimately translates to unparalleled care for those in the local communities.

Marjorie Pettingell

SVP Quality

As Senior Vice President of Quality, Margie has oversight of the Clinical Quality department to ensure Vertava Health patients have access to a high-quality continuum of care. Her approach is quickly setting industry standards for clinical excellence using evidence-based care and state-of-the-art technology to support long-term SUD recovery and mental health that empowers patients to live out their best futures.

Margie oversees the compliance department and manages the clinical team, including over 270 licensed clinicians. She directs training efforts across all locations to ensure clinicians are applying the most current evidence-based treatment practices, research, and industry technology. Margie also leads efforts around Vertava Health’s certifications, allowing insurance providers to be confident that excellence in clinical care is provided at all Vertava Health locations. Importantly, Margie also ensures that Vertava Health practices are compliant with provider and government protocols.

With over 20 years of clinical experience, Margie has dedicated her career to helping others achieve mental health and freedom from addiction. Her passion for SUD treatment underpins her commitment to, and focus on, evidence-based treatment methods. She has extensive experience with implementing and managing behavioral health programs, both for private entities and governmental agencies. This unique blend of experience makes her particularly effective in providing guidance in clinical matters – from treatment modalities to compliance and certification.

Margie earned her Master’s in Social Work from Boston University and has called Massachusetts home ever since. When not working, she enjoys traveling with her partner, reading, and finding new rail trails. She also enjoys helping colleagues, family, and friends interpret their dreams. Margie has a dream certificate from the International Association of Dream Studies.

Tom Viscelli

Chief Development Officer

As Chief Development Officer, Tom Viscelli drives Vertava Health’s efforts to accelerate growth through strategic developments by building density and integration in the markets the company serves. Establishing key partnerships with successful, innovative organizations in the technology and healthcare space supports Vertava Health’s goal to provide behavioral and substance use disorder treatment to all those who need it, helping people live their best life.

Prior to joining Vertava Health, Tom served as Vice President for HSBC’s Healthcare Investment Banking Group, where he had primary responsibility for Behavioral Health coverage and was previously an M&A generalist. Tom is an industry thought leader, having co-founded the Addiction Treatment Executive Roundtable and acted as sponsor for the Autism Investor Summit.

Tom is a Veteran and was a U.S. Army Captain, having served two tours in Iraq. He has an MBA from New York University and an A.B. from Princeton University.
